十二个话题，二十七个功能项目全面让学生在语言技能、语言知识、情感态度、学习策略、文化意识五个方面提供了练习的平台。文化意识方面要求了解中西餐的差异及英语国家饮食风俗，了解英语国家正式和非正式场合服饰、穿戴风俗，英语国家中的传统的体育活动，培养学生热爱大自然，热爱运动。情感方面，进一步培养学生学习兴趣，乐于参与各种英语实践活动，理解他人情感。学习策略方面，培养学生预习习惯和制定简单的学习计划。在语言知识方面和语言技能方面得到进一步的提高，听说读写得到全面发展，为进一步学习英语打下良好的基础。
